What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Creation Day 5: St. Cuthbert

Story - The Ravens of Farne

Song – “He's got the whole world in His hands”

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Game – “Feather Race”

  • Put a feather up in the air.  Gently blow on the feather to show how the feather can stay in the air.  After demonstrating how to keep the feather in the air, hand a feather to each child and let them try to keep it up in the air.  Have a feather race around a chair and back.

Story Magnifier – Bird Feeders

  • The Ravens tried to take food that was not theirs, but in the end they found food that was theirs.
  • Tie a string through a half of mini bagel.  Spread shortening on the bagel and dip in seeds.

Art – Flying Bird

  • In our story, the greedy ravens stole the grain and roof straw.  Once they were sorry, the birds and Saint Cuthbert were able to live together peacefully on the Island.
  • Decorate the bird body.  Insert a coffee filter through the slit after decorated to make wings.
