What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

The Friend of Little Children

Story - The Jesus Story Book page 256

Song – “Jesus loves the little children”

Song – “Jesus Loves Me”

Game – “Let the little children come to me”

  • One day Jesus had many little children come to him.  Some of the older people, called disciples, didn’t like the little children getting so close, but Jesus loved the little children.
  • Explain that the kids will tiptoe forward when they see the green sheet and tiptoe backwards when they see the red sheet. Share that the children were going to Jesus (hold up a green light) when Jesus’ friends told them to go away (red light). Jesus saw this and asked them to come (green light). Play several times or take turns in letting kids hold up the sheets of paper.

Story Magnifier – Jesus Bingo

  • Jesus loves us all, so mark the middle space.  Pick pictures for the other spots and wait to the pictures to be called

Art – Pony Bead Jesus Fish

  • Ancient Christians used the fish symbol to mark meeting places and tombs, or to be able to tell the difference between friends and enemies.  The fish tells us that we are all Jesus’ friends.
  • Bend a chenille stem in half, place beads on it, and bend the end of the stems into a fish tail.  You may also want to put a piece of string on it to wear it as a necklace.
