What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Jesus’ Baptism

Story - The Jesus Story Book Page 200

Song – “Down in my Heart”

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Game – “Well Pleased”

  • When Jesus was baptized, the Holy Spirit came down and said that God was pleased with him.  Today we are going to tell some things that please us about our friends.
  • Have all children sit in a close circle on the floor.  Pass a feather around the circle by blowing it to the next person.  When the next person gets the feather, the person who passed it says one nice thing or something that makes them happy about the new person.
  • You can also roll a ball or bat a balloon instead of the feather.

Story Magnifier – Baptized Maze
  • Jesus showed us how important baptism is.  When we’re baptized, we’re telling everyone who knows us that our sins have washed away and all is forgiven.  Jesus was baptized in the river.
  • Have children use colored pencils to go through the maze.  Allow children to color pictures as well.
Art – Water Art
  • The Church asks God that through his Son the power of the Holy Spirit may be sent upon the water, so that those who will be baptized in it may be "born of water and the Spirit."
  • We are going to create art using water.  Use the eye droppers to decorate the circle with the different colors of water.
