What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Joshua and the Walls of Jericho

Story - Beginner’s Bible

Song – “This Little Light of Mine”

Song – “He's got the whole world in His hands”

Game – “Down Came the Walls”

  • In the Bible, God told Joshua to march around the city once a day for seven days before attacking.
  • Together build a wall with cardboard bricks.  Hand every child a ball and walk around the wall.  Sound a whistle after everyone has walked around at least seven times.  When the whistle sounds, everyone throws their ball at the wall trying to knock it down.

Story Magnifier – Sound the Horn

  • After walking around the Wall for seven days, The Walls of Jericho came falling down when Joshua gave the signal.
  • Use the mini boxes to build a wall, then blow a signal and knock the wall down.

Art – The Wall

  • To get to their new land, the Israelites lead by Joshua had to fight their way through the walled city of Jericho.
  • Use a wet paper towel to press a packing peanut against.  Once one end is moist it will stick to the other peanuts and a wall can be built.
