What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

The Ten Commandments

Story - Jesus Story Book p. 100

Song – “He's got the whole world in His hands”

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Game – “God Says”

  • God spoke the Ten Commandments to His People.  Play “God Says.”  It is played like Simon says but the phrase is changed.  With the younger children, make light of someone messing up and not make anyone sit down.  With the older children you can have them sit down if they mess up, but watch out for those children that are just not at the maturity to be able to do this game as well as others.  Pick a child to be it, but limit how many times they can give commands.

Story Magnifier – Felt Board Retelling

  • Retell the story using the felt board.  Have the kids help tell parts and bring up different pieces to put on the board.

Art – Moses Puppet

  • In our story today, God wrote the Ten Commandments on stone tablets and gave them to Moses to share.
  • Give each child a blank person to design how Moses would look.  When finished designing, tape a stick to the back to be a puppet.
