What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

The Two Houses

Story - The Two Houses by C. F. Nicks

Song – “He's got the whole world in His hands”

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Game – “Shifting Sands”

  • Jesus talked about the man who built his house on rock in our Bible story.  People who build their lives on Jesus can stand firm, even when something comes along to shake them.
  • Divide kids into two groups.  One group will build their house on a blanket and the other group on cardboard.  After both teams have built, they need to work together to try to move it across a line without the house toppling.

Story Magnifier – The Best Foundation

  • It is better to build a house on a solid foundation, than one that will wash away.  Jesus is our rock in which to build our lives.
  • Examine what happens to rock and sand when they meet water by shaking and looking at the different jars.
  • Give every child six popsicle sticks to make a house outline (they can make it look like any type of house).  Once their house is built, pick which foundation is best rock or sand.

Art – Sturdy House

  • In our story, one person built their house on a solid foundation.  The other person had an ever moving foundation that washed away.  You are going to build your house on a solid plate, just like we build our lives on the solid foundation of faith.
  • Design a house with playdough on a plate.
