What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Jesus is Born

Story - The Jesus Story Book page 176

Song – “Mary had a Baby Boy” (Tune: Mary had a little Lamb)

Song – “Happy Birthday”

Game – “Happy News Game”

  • You and another teacher (teenage leader) make a bridge with your arms. The children will walk in a circle, passing under the bridge, while you sing together the following words to the tune: "London Bridge". We have happy news to tell, news to tell, news to tell. We have happy news to tell. We have happy news. On the last line, bring your arms down to "catch" a child. That child then tells the happy news: Jesus will be born! Continue until each child has had a chance to be "caught" and tell the happy news.

Story Magnifier – Box sort

  • Give each child a white piece of paper to draw a design on.  Tape the paper to the top of each box.  Hide a small baby under one of the boxes and have the children guess which box has the baby.

Art – Manger Design

  • Paint the hay in the manger with yellow paint and add a baby Jesus.
