What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Entry into Jerusalem

Story - The Jesus Story Book

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Song – “I may never march in the infantry"

Game – “Donkey Colt”

  • Divide the children into two groups.  One group are donkeys (crawl) and the other group are disciples (walk).  It is the job of the disciples to find a donkey for Jesus to ride into Jerusalem.  One disciple takes a towel and puts on the back of a “donkey.”  The donkey crawls back to the rest of the disciples and hands the towel off.  This continues until everyone has had a turn.  You may also want to make it a race by having two groups of disciples and two groups of donkeys.

Story Magnifier – Palm Branches

  • Do you know how people met Jesus in Judea? They welcomed him, spread palm branches on the road, shouted, "Hosanna!" and glorified him.
  • Examine a real palm leaf and explain how they are green before they dry out.  They are also all connected.  Fold paper in half and cut out oval.  Use scissors to snip the green into individual palms.  Add a green chenille stem to make own palm.

Art – The Road to Jerusalem

  • Paint the “road” with palm leaves.  Add a donkey on the road.
