What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Daniel in the Lion’s Den

Story - Daniel in the Lion’s Den

Song – “This Little Light of Mine”

Song – “I may never march in the infantry"

Game – “The Lion Pit”

  • Choose one player to be Daniel. All the other players lie down on their backs. They're now in "the Lion Pit" as a sleeping lion. Daniel counts to 3, then tries to get the other players to move without making any physical contact. He can yell, laugh, tell a joke — anything except touch another player.  Anyone who moves, laughs, or makes noise joins Daniel, standing up and trying to get the others to move. After a couple minutes, the leader yells “guards” and all the lions wake up and run to the wall trying not to be tagged.

Story Magnifier – Pit of Blocks

  • Daniel was thrown into a pit with lions.  Using blocks and working either together or individually, build a pit to hold Daniel and the lions (yellow pom-poms).

Art – Lion Puppet

  • In our story today, God saved Daniel from being eaten by the lions.  Make lion puppets by using a paper plate and drawing a face with crayons.  Glue yarn on for fur.  Tape a stick to the back as a handle.
