What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

The Last Supper

Story - The Jesus Story Book page 286

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Song – “The More We Get Together"

Game – “Jesus loves You”

  • Have all children sit in a circle to play a game like “Duck, Duck, Goose.”  Pick a child to be it and have them gently tap children on the head and say, “And You” for those that are not going to chase but “Jesus Loves You” for the one to chase.  If the player gets tagged, then instead of being in the center the tagger gives a hug or high-five and the child returns to the circle.

Art – The Bread of Life

  • Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.”
  • Give each child a foam slice of bread.  Glue the phrase “I am the Bread of Life.”  Decorate with sequins and glue.

Story Magnifier – Picture Frames

  • When Jesus went back to heaven to be with his Father, he left behind a picture for us to remember him by.  We can’t look at the picture like in an album.  It is a picture to help us remember what Jesus did for us.  We call it "The Lord's Supper." (Communion)  He told the disciples that whenever they ate the bread and drank the wine, it was to remind them of what he had done for them.
  • Draw a picture to remember Jesus and put a frame around it.
