What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

Song – “If you are Happy and you Know It”

Game – “Good King, May I?”

  • Played like mother may I.  Have the king or queen sit in a “throne” (chair), while everyone else lines up at the opposite end.  The children take turns asking "Good King (Queen), may I ____?" and makes a movement suggestion (big steps, baby steps, tip-toe steps, frog steps, jumps, hops, crabwalk, crawl, etc.). For example, one might ask, "Good King, may I take five giant steps forward?" The king either replies "Yes, you may" or "No, you may not, but you may _____ instead" and inserts his/her own suggestion.  All of the child make the same motions no matter who asked the question.

  • Mordecai and Esther worked together by sending messages back and forth.  Have each child decorate a card to send a message to someone.

Art – Crown Decorating

  • Decorate the crowns using glitter glue and jewels.
