What is Cherub Church you ask?

Cherub Church is St. Jude's Religious Education Preschool Program, offered during the 10:30 Mass in the early childhood area of the Parish Center basement. Preschoolers, ages 3 to 6, engage in interactive activities to reinforce the Bible point of the day. Through this program, preschoolers develop a sense of community and belonging to the parish of St. Jude.

David and Goliath

Story - Brimax's David and Goliath

Song – “Deep and Wide”

Song – “I may never march in the infantry"

Game – “God is Stronger”

  • Choose one or two children to be Goliath.  Everyone else gets a newspaper ball.  The object is to run from one area to where Goliath is hung up to throw your ball.  If Goliath tags you, you freeze into a statue until someone tags you and says “God is stronger.”  Once all the balls make it to the cut out, then new Goliaths are chosen.

Story Magnifier – Nine Foot Tall

  • Goliath was huge, nine foot tall.  Everyone draws a picture of a person on a paper.  Tape the papers together to create a nine foot tall structure.

Art – Stone Rolling Art

  • In our story today, David picked up five stones to hurl at the giant.  Dip each stone (marble) into paint and roll around inside the box on paper.  The stones roll by moving the box instead of touching the marble.  Once most of the paint has come off, dip it in paint again.
